This is the cover of my entry for the Art House Sketchbook Project. I didn’t have as much time or energy as I would have liked to work on this project but, despite some seriously bad ME/CFS days, I managed to finish six drawings and entered my book in time for the 2014 USA tour

My illustrations for this project were inspired by classic Islamic, Celtic and Anglo-Saxon patterns. they were created using a new set of Rötring Rapidograph technical pens and my trusted Karisma colour pencils. I rebound the sketchbook, replacing some of its pages with blue pastel paper and reduced the number of pages overall to suit the final number of illustrations. Some illustrations were cut to reveal the blue page underneath, others were coloured to reflect the blue of a facing page.

This cover drawing is a variation on Zentangle Nr3.
